Texas birth rate

The Texas birth rate declined in 2023, the year after the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Dobbs overturned Roe v. Wade.
According to a report in January 2025 in the Dallas Morning News:
- In 2022, Texas had a 2.04% increase in fertility rate (University of Houston)
- In 2023 Texas had 387,945 live births, reflecting a fertility rate of 60.6 births per 1,000 women who are aged 15-44 (March of Dimes). This was a 2.07% decrease in fertility, dropping the rate to a Texas record low of 60.64 births for every 1,000 women.
