Tactic

A tactic is a device for accomplishing an end. A military tactic is a technique, like encircling the enemy, in contrast to "strategy" which is an overall plan. In politics it is a technique used in a campaign, like calling the other candidate a liar. Tactics is the collective set of techniques used in battles.
