Asymmetry is a lack of equality or balance between two sides of shape, appearance, or action. Asymmetry is when one side has more of something than the other side does, or when a force is applied more to one side than the other. Asymmetry can cause discomfort, as when one ear hears better than the other.

Symmetry is a balance and similarity between two sides or halves of a design or shape, and asymmetry is a lack of that.
