Pierre Basile

Died April 6, 1199

Pierre Basile (d. April 6, 1199) was a boy who was credited with killing Richard I. He was defending the small castle of Châlus-Chabrol, and managed to mortally wound King Richard I with a shot from his crossbow.

He was reportedly pardoned by Richard I, on his deathbed. However, that order was ignored, and he was flayed and hanged.
