Issachar (which means "reward") was the nineth son of Jacob and fifth of Leah, the wife Jacob didn't love. His story is recorded in the Bible in the book of Genesis (Gen 30:16-18). His descendents were one of the Twelve Tribes of Israel. Jacob gave a deathbed blessing for Issachar just as he did his other sons. (Gen 49:14-15)
