Matthew was one of the twelve Apostles of Jesus.
Matthew was a tax collector when he left his job to follow Jesus. He was the author of the first Gospel, which was written in Greek primarily for the Jewish audience. Some claim that a notebook containing Hebrew notes were also written by Matthew.
