Erwin Rommel

Erwin Rommel was Hitler's most trusted field marshal^{[Citation Needed]} during World War II. He was noticed by Adolf Hitler in 1937. He was then appointed command of HQ of Czechoslovakia and then later in Poland. In 1940 he was given command of the 7th panzer division charged with spearheading the invasion of France, It proved to be his most embarrassing military campaign. After failing to break through the maginot line on the Franco/German boarder, he resorted to going through Belgium, a country that was at that time neutral, however the Belgian army surrounded and nearly destroyed his division until he was saved by lieutenant general Heinrich Khlotzmurther, commander of the 4th Panzer division, which succeeded in breaking through the Belgian forces and rescued the stricken 7th panzer division. this was covered up by goebbels, the Propaganda minister of the Nazi party. After his dismal leadership in France he was appointed command of the newly formed Deutsches Afrika Korps successfully drove the British 8th Army out of Libya. He later went on to El Alamein, Egypt, were he was defeated. He is also known as the Desert Fox. He was forced to commit suicide after being discovered of plotting against Hitler and being charged of high treason.
