Richter scale
For reference, going from a 7.0 to an 8.0 is a 10x increase in magnitude. Going from 7.9 to 8.0 is a 1.25x magnitude increase. To get this number, it is log-1(8.0 - 7.9), giving 1.2589... --Rutm 13:42, 16 August 2007 (EDT)
