Penance
This is an old revision of this page, as edited by HelpJazz (talk | contribs) at 00:56, September 10, 2007. It may differ significantly from current revision.
Penance has three related, but distinct, meanings:
- the confession of sins to a clergyman in order to receive absolution.
- the punishment by which one atones for sins committed by himself or others.
- the private personal repentence to God of one's own sins.
