Gene Roddenberry

Gene Roddenberry, (1921 - 1991) was an American screenwriter and producer and is best known as the creator of Star Trek. During World War II Roddenberry served in the US Army Air Force and was a recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross for his actions flying over Guadalcanal.
He was the chief writer for several TV series before launching Star Trek in 1966.
Roddenberry thought of himself as a humanist. [1]
