Insularity

Insularity refers to geographical separation, such as that of an island, as well as the associated political attitudes similar to isolationism.[1] An example of an insularity would be Britain, whose membership in the European Union normally would have included acceptance of the euro, but the British chose to retain their cultural identity through the pound sterling.
