A strong base is a base which strongly attract protons (H<sup+) in solution. Some example strong bases include sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and lithium hydroxide (LiOH).

The conjugate acid for a strong acid is a weak acid. In many cases the conjugate base simply acts as a spectator ion in a reaction.
