Iowa State University is a public university located in Ames, Iowa. It was founded in 1856, and was designated as a land grant college under the Morrill Act signed by President Abraham Lincoln in 1862.

Controversy

In 2007, the university was criticized for denying tenure of astronomy professor Guillermo Gonzalez because of his acceptance of Intelligent Design.
