Exegesis consists of a thorough interpretation of the Bible. The term is taken from the Greek word á¼Î¾Î·Î³Îµá¿ÏÎ¸Î±Î¹, which means "to lead out."

The term exegesis can also describe scholarly analysis of other authoritative texts.
