Scotland and Cultural Controversies

Scotland is historically Christian, the national church is the Church of Scotland and it is sympathetic to homosexuality[1]. This has led the leading conservative Christian Pat Robertson to describe Scotland as "dark country full of homosexuals"[2]. There have been a variety of examples of this stanec also being reflected in the Scottish and British governments, such as:

  • the repeal of laws banning the teaching of homosexuality in schools[3]
  • the legalisation of same-sex unions[4]
  • the adoption of children by homosexuals[5]
  • The banning of anti-gay chants at sports events[6].
