Peter Singer is an Australian philosopher who is best known for his book Animal Liberation. He is currently Ira W. DeCamp Professor of Bioethics at the University Center for Human Values at Princeton University and Laureate Professor at the University of Melbourne's Centre for Applied Philosophy and Public Ethics.[1]
Singer advocates the killing of certain newborn infants at the discretion of their parents. The conditions he has explicitly named as sufficient justification for active infanticide include Down syndrome, spina bifida, and hemophilia.[2]
Newsweek wrote, "The modern animal rights movement may be dated to the 1975 publication of Animal Liberation by Australian philosopher Peter Singer."[3]
