Ares

Ares, or Mars, was the Greek and Roman God of War. Unlike modern Christianity, the ancients had a huge number of gods for all kinds of things, including war and love and the ocean. In contrast, Christianity believes in only one God.
The Greeks told the story of how Ares was tricked by Aphrodite (Venus) into climbing into a big masonry jar, and then Hephaestus (Vulcan) screwed the cap on very tightly so that Ares couldn't get out. In this way, the Greeks illustrated that Love can fool War.
