Midwife

A midwife is someone trained to assist a woman in childbirth, with a preference for using natural methods. A midwife should recognize any delivery problems that might require immediate assistance by a more highly trained specialist, such as an obstetrician. The practice of delivering babies by a midwife is called midwifery.
