Evacuation

Evacuation refers to the planned movement of population from a city or district perceived as being under threat or for other reasons. Examples include the recent (2008) evacuation of New Orleans prior to [[Hi]urricane Gustav]], and the evecuation during the Second World War of children from the major cities of Britain. Following the Russo-Finnish War of 1939-40 the Finnish population was eveacuated from the areas ceded to the Soviet Union.
