Portion control is a conservative approach to combating weight gain and obesity. Unlike most diet plans, portion control does not require avoiding ones favorite foods.
Portion control consists of eating fewer, smaller portions. This approach recognizes that the satisfaction of a favorite food after a meal does not require eating large quantities of it.
Portion control recognises that the best way to avoid obesity is simply to excercise self-control, and leave fattening food on the plate in restaurants, in the refrigerator at home, and in the grocery store when shopping.
