Unproven

The root word is proof which means evidence to show the statement is true.
un-proven means not proven, the statement has not been shown to be true.
Also used of processes or equipment which have not been shown to work.

example: Bills new experimental harvesting machine in unproven.

Often used where mathematical proof can be demonstrated.

A proof in printing is a test copy done to check the printing plate before many copies are done.
Unproven can be used to say that a test copy was not done.

Archaic use: If something is unproven, it means it has not been learned or found out by experience.
