Breadmaker

The breadmaker (sometimes referred to as breadwinner) is the member (or members) of the family who goes out into the world and earns money for the family. He is the family's primary source of income. This is a somewhat colloquial term, coming from the colloquialism of "bread" to denote "money". The counterpart of a breadmaker is a housemaker.
More literally, a breadmaker is someone who makes bread, but he is more commonly known as a baker.
