Albert, Prince Consort of Great Britain and Ireland (August 26, 1819 - December 14, 1861) , usually called Prince Albert, was the husband of Queen Victoria.

Born as Francis Albert Augustus Charles Emmanuel, Prince of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha (German: Prinz Franz Albrecht August Karl Emanuel von Sachsen-Coburg-Gotha), the young queen proposed to him on October 15, 1839. The two first cousins were married on February 10, 1840.
