A body encompasses all the members of a separate entity. Generally an entity of mass or people. A body of water is separate from the other lakes and rivers. A student body is a group of people; but most often a body refers to a group of organs. The Human Body is a primary example, but animals and plants also have "bodies".

The body contains about 100,000 miles of blood vessels, enough to reach around the earth four times. The 75 miles of kidney tubes in the body almost equal in length a telephone cable between New York and Philadelphia. The human heart beats about three billion times in 70 years. The heart pumps about 250 million quarts of blood in 70 years. The body's heart produces enough energy in an hour to lift 25 men, weighing 150 pounds each, a distance of one foot.
