Patrick Hamilton

Patrick Hamilton (1504 - February 29, 1528) was a Scottish Christian and an early Protestant Reformer in Scotland. He traveled to Europe, where he met several of the leading Christian thinkers, before returning to Scotland to preach. The Roman Catholic Archbishop James Beaton's kangaroo court tried him for heresy. He was then murdered by Roman Catholics by being burnt at the stake in St Andrews. He is commemorated there as a martyr of the faith on the Martyrs' Monument.
