Attacks on Sarah Palin
True to his [liberal] nature, Letterman has repeatedly mocked Alaska governor [Sarah Palin] since she came into the public eye as a vice-presidential candidate in 2008. In June 2009, while Palin was attending a benefit for those with autism in Westchester, New York, Letterman escalated these attacks in a particularly degrading fashion, describing Palin as having a "slutty flight attendant" look and claiming that her fourteen-year-old daughter was "knocked up" at a baseball game. [1] Although Letterman has since claimed that he meant to insult and demean her eighteen-year-old sister Bristol instead, observers have pointed out that Bristol wasn't at the baseball game in question, giving lie to this claim.
