Edmund Pendleton (1721-1803), Founding Father, Virginia jurist. Randolph helped lead Virginia support for the American Revolution as a delegate to First and Second Continental Congress; he was president of committee of safety and the state convention (1775-1776). He authored Virginia's resolutions for independence that were incorporated into the Declaration of Independence. As president of Virginia ratification convention (1788), he supported federal Constitution. He was the first chief justice of Virginia supreme court of appeals (1779-1803).
