Alliteration

Alliteration is the repetition of consonant sound, generally at the beginning of a word. It is used predominantly in poetry, but also in literary prose. Alliteration was one of the chief literary devices used in Old English verse.

Example: "I have stood still and stopped the sound of feet...." (Robert Frost, "Acquainted with the Night")
