Personal computer

A personal computer or PC, stands for a computing device that can be used at home. There was a question when personal computers first came out as to whether or not they would catch on or were a fad. Those who recognized the potential of personal computers turned out to be right, and one of the world's largest organizations, Microsoft, and the world's richest man Bill Gates, accomplished what they have in business because of personal computers.
Today the phrase "personal computer" is often used to describe any computing device that uses a Microsoft operating system, usually Windows. However, a personal computer is still simply a computer meant for personal use, and can run any operating system, such as Linux or Mac OS X.
