Abortion in Ireland consists of no reported cases. Abortion has long been illegal in Ireland. One of the reasons Irish people voted against the Lisbon Treaty was that Ireland would be forced to accept the European Union's pro-abortion laws. After the Irish rejected the referendum, the EU agreed to allow Ireland to preserve their pro-life stance before putting the vote to the people again.
But several thousand residents of Ireland travel each year to other countries, particularly Britain in order to have abortions performed.[1]
