Eric Clapton (b.1945) is a British blues/rock and roll guitarist and vocalist. During his long career he has been a member of the Yardbirds, Cream, Derek and the Dominos, Blind Faith, the Bluesbreakers, as well as a solo artist. Among Clapton's best known recordings are Layla, I Shot the Sheriff, Cocaine, and Lay Down Sally. Rolling Stone magazine listed Clapton as #4 in their list of the 100 greatest guitarists. Clapton overcame heroin addiction in the mid 1970s, and alcoholism in the early 1980s. He continues to perform and record; his most recent album was recorded in 2010.
