Abortion and Christianity

Christianity has long recognized the unborn child as a human being, and thereby opposes abortion. Declining mainline churches that have adopted liberal policies on other issues are virtually the only ones that accept abortion today.
Nearly all evangelical churches now oppose abortion abortion.
The Catholic Church opposes abortion, and always has.
The Presbyterian church has split into pro-choice and pro-life factions The liberal General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (USA) is the pro-choice denomination, but even it expresses grave moral concern about abortion.[1]
