Mastodon

Mastodon (Greek: μαÏÏÏÏ mastos, and οδοÏÏ donti; "breast tooth") are an extinct species of mammals which closely resemble the elephant.[1]

A Hoax?
Since the late 1990s doubt has been cast over the existence of the mastadon. Some supposed fossil records appear to have been either contaminated or completely fabricated by scientists. There is even a heavy metal band named Mastodon, after the controversy.
