Maurice Sendak

Maurice Sendak (June 10, 1928-May 8, 2012) was a Jewish[1] author from Brooklyn best known for writing children's books such as Where the Wild Things Are. Sendak died on May 8, 2012 from a massive stroke.
Controversies
Sendaks book In the Night Kitchen is widely banned since it shows a naked boy prancing around. The book was first published in 1970. In 2008 Sendak confessed to being a homosexual. He hid this fact for fear that it would hurt his career as a children's books author.[2]
