Affective disorders are a class of mental disorders characterized by a disturbance of mood, and are also referred to as mood disorders. Included in this category are Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar I and Bipolar II Disorders, Dysthymic Disorder, and Cyclothymic Disorder.
