Apollinarius

Apollinarius was born in Beirut Syria and became Bishop of Laodicea in 360. He upheld the orthodox view against Arius and was a friend with Athanasius. However, teachings similar to his were condemned at the Council of Alexandria in 362 and his own doctrines were specifically repudiated at the Western Council of Rome in 377 and three other councils after that. He left the church in 375. His followers were outlawed by Emperor Theodosius I. Few of his writings have survived, but it appears he believed that while Christ was fully God, he was only partly human.
