Benjamin Harrison was the 23rd President of the United States, serving from 1889-1893. He was born August 20, 1833 in North Bend, Ohio. He was the grandson of William Harrison, who was ninth President. He served in between the terms of Grover Cleveland. Harrison's term was characterized by being full of federal spending and legislation including tariffs and other taxes.He died on March 31, 1901. [1]

Early Political Career

Harrison's political career was foreshadowed by him being a grandson of late president William Henry Harrison

Harrison fought in the Union during the American Civil War. In 1879 he was elected to United States Senate as a Republican.

Significant Events During Benjamin Harrison's Presidency Term

In 1890, the Sherman Antitrust Act, Sherman Silver Purchase Act, and McKinley Tariff were passed into law.

The Wounded Knee Massacre also occurred in 1890.
