Bud Light was a popular brand of beer sold by Belgian-owned brewery giant AB InBev via its American division Anheuser-Busch which, in early April 2023, promoted the transgender agenda with a Bud Light ad campaign featuring a transgender male presenting as a "woman" (see below). The grassroots backlash by beer drinkers was very negative, and sales of Bud Light plummeted.

AB InBev arrogantly expected to ride out the controversy, and initially issued merely a weak sort of mea culpa. As sales of this brand continued to be far below its prior levels, AB InBev backtracked further.

As a result of this, Bud Light lost the top-selling position it held for more than two decades, as admitted by the sympathetic liberal CNN:

The fall from the top further highlighted how much trouble the Anheuser-Busch brand is in following transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney’s Instagram post showing off a customized Bud Light can.[1]

Other beer brands affiliated with Bud Light through common ownership include:

  • Beck’s
  • Budweiser
  • Corona
  • Labatt (Canadian beer brand)
  • Modelo
  • Rolling Rock
  • Stella

Dylan Mulvaney controversy

In April 2023, Anheuser-Busch began pushing gender confusion and "wokeness" by promoting its product with an online advertising campaign called "365 Days of 'Girlhood'", using gender-confused attention seeker Dylan Mulvaney, a homosexual biological male pretending to be a "woman", to push Bud Light, whose cans and bottles feature his image while he goes out of his way to make a spectacle of himself by putting on his offensive and grotesque caricatures of real women in social media videos (one of which included his now heavily-memed over-the-top imitation of actress Audrey Hepburn in the latter's portrayal of Holly Golightly in the 1961 film Breakfast at Tiffany's).[2]

Backlash against Anheuser-Busch, and particularly its then-vice-president of marketing Alissa Heinerscheid (who came up with the ad campaign to push "woke" ideology while targeting and slagging both the product itself and its customer base, both of which she publicly admitted she has low opinions of[3]), was swift and massive, with Heinerscheid particularly getting savaged on social media for pushing "wokeness" and going out of her way to destroy the very company she worked for and alienating its customers by pushing Mulvaney and his delusions on them, while Anheuser-Busch stock took a nosedive[4] as the company lost over $7 billion[5] (since dropped even further to a $15.7 billion loss[6]) as a result of the marketing disaster, while liquor stores and bars have begun dropping Bud Light and other Anheuser-Busch products[7] and numerous customers,[8] including even celebrities such as Kid Rock[9] and Travis Tritt,[10] have boycotted all Anheuser-Busch products. Country singer Garth Brooks sticks up for Bud Light and promises to keep selling it at his bar, insulting the boycotters and calling them "a**holes"; in response, comedian Rob Schneider tells him off and calls him out for his false virtue.[11]

In response to the mega-backlash against Bud Light and Mulvaney, Anheuser-Busch posted a weak social media statement that made a non-apology "apology" while trying to dodge responsibility for its public relations nightmare (which subsequently drew heavy online criticism),[5][12] while Mulvaney himself threw an attention-seeking online tantrum in response to the criticism, childishly claiming that Bud Light's customer base does not "understand" him[13] and blaming them while refusing to take responsibility for his part in the Bud Light PR disaster.

In its article on the Bud Light controversy and boycott, Wikipedia put a typical leftist spin on the issue, using non-credible liberal media articles for its "sources" and going out of its way to demonize conservatives (including wrongly referring to legitimate criticism of the pushing of gender confusion on the public as so-called "transphobia") while depicting Mulvaney (who the site incorrectly refers to as a "woman" and uses "she/her/hers" pronouns to refer to him in further enabling and encouraging his delusion) as a "victim" in the controversy.

Heinerschied subsequently announced that she was taking a leave of absence from Anheuser-Busch in the wake of the massive amounts of criticism she got for her botched Bud Light ad campaign[14] and was later fired from the company because of the boycott-induced nosedive in product sales and stock value caused because of her decision to create the campaign and to hire Mulvaney as part of the campaign,[15] while attempts by Bud Light to win back the customer base it lost to the boycott, instead of simply apologizing to them for insulting them with the Dylan Mulvaney campaign, have been met with massive scorn and derision for its transparent attempt at pandering[16], including recent ads for the beer in social media:

  • One such Bud Light ad on YouTube, which attempted to pander to beer consumers in the Midwest and the South with imagery invoking those regions of the country (including cowgirls and country music), was so ratioed (presently over 31,000 dislikes vs. just under 800 likes) and received so many hostile comments against it that the Bud Light YouTube channel shut off comments on the video, which drew even more condemnation online[17] (including some comments calling shutting off comments on the video a cowardly move) and only demonstrated that Anheuser-Busch's "woke" upper management cannot handle the truth and does not want to hear it.
  • Another recent Bud Light ad released on YouTube and on Twitter proceeded to draw heavy criticism against it by its use of 1970s disco music (which would not appeal to its current customer base) and its engagement in misandry and racism against white males by making them look like bumbling buffoons and idiots in the new ad; on YouTube, the ad has also drawn plenty of critical comments and heavy ratioing (currently almost 36,000 dislikes vs. only 751 likes on the ad on the Bud Light YouTube channel), while on Twitter, the ad was so heavily savaged by critics that the Bud Light Twitter account proceeded to hide all the negative replies to try to save face, but the Gateway Pundit was still able to reveal the hidden tweets via the Twitter account DC Draino.[18]
