Channel 4, founded by Act of Parliament in 1982, is the United Kingdom's commercially funded public service television broadcaster. The channel was initially created as a subsidiary of the Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) under the Broadcasting Act 1981, and was transferred to a new company called the Channel Four Television Corporation in 1990. The corporation also has offshoot channels such as Film4 (which commissions its own high quality films) E4 and More4.

Just like the BBC's news division, Channel 4 News also has a liberal bias. [1]
