The Declaratory Act (March 18, 1766) was an act made by the British Parliament that stated that Britain had supreme control over the American Colonies. It was made directly after Parliament had repealed the Stamp Act. This act angered the colonists, and was one of the several reasons the colonists declared independence from the overbearing British Empire in 1776.
