Donofrio v. Wells was a Supreme Court case brought by the pro se (self-represented) litigant Leo Donofrio.[1] Mr. Donofrio, a New Jersey attorney & champion poker player, alleged that the New Jersey secretary of state (Mrs. Nina Wells) had failed to discharge her legal duty to properly vet, and ensure the eligibility of, the candidates in Election 2008, especially Barack Obama. Proceeding in state court on a state claim allowed Mr. Donofrio to get around federal standing requirements, which had resulted in the dismissal of Berg v. Obama et al (a similar lawsuit), but blocked the Supreme Court from exercising appellate jurisdiction.

The case was believed dismissed on Friday, December 5, 2008.[2]
