The Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction, often referred to as a Super Congress is a group that will be appointed per the July 2011 debt ceiling legislation that will consist of six Republicans and six Democrats to suggest an additional one to two trillion dollars in cuts. The Congressmen will be appointed by the Congressional Majority and Minority leaders Harry Reid and Mitch McConnell, John Boehner and Nancy Pelosi.
