Joseph Patrick Kennedy, Sr. (September 6, 1888 – November 18, 1969) was an American politician, and the father of President John F. Kennedy and Senators Robert F. Kennedy and Ted Kennedy. At the outbreak of the Second World War he was the United States Ambassador to the Court of St. James's in Britain, and a supporter of a policy of appeasement towards Hitler. Noted for his Anti-Semitism, Kennedy believed that Hitler was a welcome solution to the "problem" of world-Jewry.
