Katherine Anne Couric was born on January 7, 1957, in Arlington, Virginia. Couric is the anchor of CBS Evening News. Many people believed that Katie Couric's sucess on the Today Show would follow her onto the Evening News, but the decline in viewership that started in the 1980s did not stop. Bob Schieffer, who preceded Katie, actually did see a modest rise in the evening news ratings. [1] [2] [3]
