His Excellency Kevin Baugh (b. July 30, 1962) is the current President of the Republic of Molossia, a micronation in Nevada, he controls the reigns of everyday governance and life in Molossia, which is not allowing citizens apart from family members, he was described by his wife Adrianne, as being a “benevolent dictator”, he has been President since 1999 and continues to serve to this day, he has allowed tourists to view Molossia.

Birth

Kevin Baugh was born July 30, 1962 in Dayton, Ohio.

Early Life and the founding of the Grand Republic of Vuldstein

In 1977, inspired from a film Kevin watched, he and a friend, James Spielman, created the Grand Republic of Vuldstein in 1977, which was renamed to Molossia in 1999.

Molossia’s moving to Nevada

Baugh moved to Nevada in 1998, declaring it as Molossia's territory

"War with East Germany"

Since 1983, Molossia has claimed to be at war with East Germany^[1], when East Germany was de-established they started an operation on Ernst Thälmann island to find evidence of East Germany.

"War with Mustachistan"

From May 22, 2006 until June 8, 2006. The Republic of Molossia claimed to be at war with Sultan Ali of Mustachistan, who had set up a micronation to start competition to Molossia^[2]

Significance

He has received more than 5,000 requests for citizenship, which he declined. He received a Christmas card every year whilst Barack Obama was in power. His micronation contains only members related by either marriage or born into the family.

His rule

He does not keep his country closed off from everyone else, despite not allowing anyone but his family to live in Molossia, he however holds tours which attract many visitors a year, he has oversaw multiple “wars” in his micronation, the Molossian Dead Dog War, in which people from America attempted to bury a dead dog inside Molossian territory, he also declared war on East Germany in 1983, and is still ongoing even after East Germany was dissolved into Germany in 1991, he declared he founded Molossia “for fun”, and used Cookie dough as their currency. He describes himself as “a benevolent Dictator”. The real reason Baugh declared war on East Germany is due to them “causing sleep deprivation”. The war has not ended as East Germany is not around to sign a peace treaty or to end the “war”, the reason for the War with Mustachistan is due to them setting up Mustachistan as competition to Molossia, so Kevin declared war, in one war he fought, his “country” was temporarily overrun by enemies, however was retaken by Baugh a few days later.

Dead Dog War

The Dead Dog War started on July 3, 1999^[3] after Americans were caught leaving a dead dog on Molossian territory, there is a memorial of the Dead Dog War in Molossia and the dead dog that they started the war over was buried.

MicroCon

In 2014, he announced MicroCon, a biannual event held in odd years intended as a venue for delegates of micronations around the world "to share their ideas”, MicroCon 2015 received 36 attendees.

In Popular Culture

In 2010 Kevin Baugh played the antagonist in the Nostalgia Critic comedy movie Kickassia, created by Doug Walker.
