Lieder

Lieder are German folk songs describing an idyllic setting, like those written by Gustav Mahler or Franz Schubert's "Die Schoene Muellerin," "Fischerweise," or "Erlkoenig." The songs retain much of their popularity today, and are widely performed by operatic soloists.
