Mary M. Jalonick is President of The Dallas Foundation, based in Dallas, Texas. She was hired as the foundation’s first full-time employee in 1987. Jalonick has served on the boards of the Conference of Southwest Foundations, the Forum of Regional Associations of Grantmakers, The Hockaday School and the Center for Nonprofit Management. She is currently a member of the Advisory Council of the RGK Center for Philanthropy and Community Service at the University of Texas’ LBJ School of Public Affairs. Jalonick is also a member of the Council on Foundations Community Foundations National Standards Board. In addition, she recently chaired the Council’s National Standards Action Team and was a member of its Community Foundations Leadership Team.[1][2]

Like her Dallas Foundation board of governors colleague Jeanne Phillips, Mary is also active in politics. In 2010, Jalonick was listed as a member of Republican Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison’s leadership team in her campaign to unseat Governor Rick Perry. [3]

The Dallas Foundation is major contributor to George Soros-backed leftist media attack group Media Matters for America. Based in Washington, DC, Media Matters is run by David Brock, who recently “declared war” on Fox News. [4] The foundation has contributed $250,000 to Media Matters in recent years.[5]

The Dallas Foundation is the oldest community foundation in Texas. It’s most recent IRS filing says it “grants to charitable causes, mostly in Dallas County, intended to improve the quality of life in the areas of arts, education, health, social services, and community projects.” Why they’ve chosen to donate to radical left-wing organizations like Media Matters, who obviously provide none of the aforementioned services, raises questions about the stated mission of the foundation.

  • Mary Jalonick is a graduate of Mt. Vernon Junior College in Washington D.C.
