A Muslim or Moslem is a follower of Islam. It means someone who is "submissive to the will of Allah."[1] True Muslims must honor the Shahada, both submitting to the will of Allah and accepting the prophet Muhammad as his apostle.

The older terms "Mohammedan" or "Muhammedan" ("follower of Muhammad"), are considered offensive and have fallen out of use.[2]

Muslims are socially conservative: pro-family, pro-marriage, prohibited from consuming alcohol, and (as in other faiths) practicing-Muslims are opponents of many of the addictive substances and habits promoted by liberals. Abortion is typically prohibited in Muslim societies and countries. An analysis of abortion laws in three Muslim-majority countries began with the observation that "one of every four people in the world is of the Muslim religion."[3]
