However, in 2006, a match-fixing scandal rocked the league and relegated four teams, two of which are recognized throughout the globe. Now, with new players, and a new focus, the league is ready to prove itself on the international stage once again.
The current Serie A champions (season 2016-17) are Juventus FC.
