The Siege of Ladysmith (October 30, 1899 to February 20, 1900) was a central part of the second Boer War.

The Boers attempted a lengthy siege of the town of Ladysmith located in the southern portion of the South African Orange Free State, which was held by the British.

The British successfully defended the city despite overwhelming odds and a severe outbreak of cholera.
